Approximately 406 million people speak Spanish as a native language in more than 24 countries, making it second only to Mandarin in terms of its number of native speakers worldwide. It also has 60 million speakers as a second language, and 20 million students as a foreign language. Spanish is one of the six official languages of the United Nations, It is used as an official language by the European Union, and its the second language most spoken in the US after English.
Expectations and Rules
Every day in class you will be required to speak in Spanish, not English. You will only have 60 minutes of speaking, so it is important to stay in the target language throughout each class. To emphasize the importance of speaking Spanish, you will receive a grade based on the amount of Spanish you use to communicate with others and with me in this class.
